If road closures occur before school: buses will not be able to get through the canyon. Regular inclement weather procedures will be initiated for ALL students.
If road closure is called after school arrival: School will NOT be impacted if there is a road closure and students will stay at their school with the expectations that most road closures last a couple of hours at the most. If road closure may delay the release of school, all parents will be notified through the ALL CALL system and buses will remain ready to transport when allowed to do so by law enforcement.
If road closure will affect regular afternoon dismissal: Students that are impacted by road closures in the canyon will be released from school as soon as communication is received from County Emergency Manager. Students that live in the valley will be bussed to Eagle Nest School and will be allowed to work on school work until the end of regular school hours. At that time, the regular bus schedule will be followed. Students who live in Ute Park will be delivered to their bus stop early as the buses travel to Eagle Nest School.
*The highway department, State Police, and Emergency Manager still make the call but we will be in communication with them to give us as much notice as possible.
