Get to Know Our New Superintendent
We are pleased to be getting ready to welcome our new Superintendent, Shannon Aguilar! She will start officially on July 1.
As a distinguished leader, in public education, Ms. Aguilar is a life-long learner who earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Eastern New Mexico University. In her 27 years in New Mexico public education, Shannon has been privileged to work with students and teachers in a variety of educational settings. She has worked as a classroom teacher, college professor, Director of Special Education and Principal. Outside of the realm of education, Shannon has worked in the mental health industry as a diagnostic and forensic evaluator, domestic violence counselor and served as a CASA volunteer.
Her goal is to create academically engaging learning experiences by fostering an environment of respect, accountability, perseverance and a development of intrinsic motivation. Shannon has a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges facing schools in the state.
With a passion for helping students succeed, she has dedicated her career to improving educational opportunities for all learners. As the newly appointed superintendent of Cimarron Municipal Schools she brings a wealth of expertise and a commitment to excellence that will undoubtedly make a positive impact on the lives of students, families, and educators alike.
With Ms. Aguilar at the helm, the school district can look forward to a bright future of innovation, collaboration, and academic success.
