March 12, 2020

Earlier today, Governor Michele Lujan Grisham ordered all public schools in NM to close for a period of 3 weeks beginning on Monday, March 16 through Friday April 3.  Cimarron Municipal Schools will be complying with that order and will be closed. We have been instructed by NMPED that instructional time missed will need to be made up following the end of the school year.

In order to be proactive Cimarron Schools is taking the following steps to continue regular school operations while reducing the threat of infection. Effective immediately:

  1. School-sponsored staff and student travel is cancelled.

  2. All extracurricular events and community gatherings will be postponed or cancelled (This includes dances, plays, band, 4-H, PeeWees)

The Board of Education will be conducting a Work Session on Monday, March 16 at 5:00 pm. Due to the restriction on group gatherings, we will be conducting this meeting over a conference call.

If you have questions or would like to listen in, please call:

575-376-2445

Dial 901

Dial 1234

If you have signs/symptoms, please call the hotline. The New Mexico Department of Health hotline is 855-600-3453.

These cancellations will remain in effect until April 3, 2020.  Since this is a rapidly evolving situation, we will continuously monitor the situation and send timely updates, when available.
